Sophie Halavy is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#143175) and Associate  Professional Clinical Counselor (#15297) with experience providing individual, couples, and  family therapy services to adults and adolescents. Over the course of her career as a mental  health professional, Sophie has compassionately supported clients navigating challenges such  as depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, substance use, and relationship issues.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Southern California, then  earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Long  Beach. Sophie is also a member of the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists  and the California Association for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. 

With a foundation in both cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy, Sophie offers a warm and collaborative approach to support individuals and families in navigating life challenges. Sophie actively fosters insight and awareness into the influence of one’s past experiences on the present self, while also guiding clients in developing essential interpersonal skills to facilitate positive behavioral and emotional changes.

At the heart of Sophie’s work is the importance of emotional healing that occurs in the therapeutic relationship. Sophie seeks to create an environment characterized by safety, trust,  and empathy, recognizing the profound impact these elements have on the therapeutic  process. Acknowledging that clients hold the expertise in their life journeys, Sophie values the  process of partnering with her clients to help them thrive and reach their goals.
